Audi has revealed its TT Ultra Quattro concept vehicle which makes use of a range of technologies to keep weight to a minimum. Use of composites, magnesium and plastics all lead to a vehicle that is 100 kg (220 lbs) lighter than the previous model.
Weight saving features include:
- Carbon fiber rear wing supported by an aluminum base
- Carbon fiber door panels
- Fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) seats
- Carbon fiber reinforced plastic wheels with aluminum spokes
- Optimized components throughout the vehicle
